What a WONDERFUL day we had at "The Barn" in Mount Vernon, Ohio today...the place where it all began! 35 years ago we had a Costello Family Reunion and this year, to mark 60 years in Ohio we all gathered again! Over 100 "Costello's" joined in the festivities today and we captured it all with this beautiful group picture! Fun was had by all! Let's do it again...only let's not wait 35 years this time! Thanks to all who came to make it a great day!

Costello Family Reunion

FRIDAY

Pizza/Pool Party    5 – 8 p.m.   Hiawatha Water Park   (Community Pool) 100 Sychar Road at the Picnic Shelter with parking on both sides of shelter.  Reduced pool admission beginning at 5 with pool closing at 7:45 p.m.

SATURDAY

Breakfast and lunch on your own.  Optional activities, as mentioned in the Family blog, are the Kokosing Gap Trail for walking, visiting Foundation Park, Farmer’s Market on the Square, lots of antique, primitives and bookstore downtown and of course the Golf Outing at Chapel Hill.

You are welcome to be at THE BARN  8480 Columbus Road, (Route #3 S) anytime after 11 a.m. but festivities will not actually being until 1 p.m.  We are planning individual family and the group family picture beginning at 3:30 p.m.  We will start with the individual families and end with the group.  Dinner will follow the group picture.

With all the facilities at THE BARN we are planning on a fun family time together.   We have the enjoyment of these facilities until 9 p.m.  Remember too, please, according to our contract, there is to be no alcohol on the premises.  Smoking is allowed, outdoors only.

SUNDAY

Brunch at Rose and Jim’s 26641 Kirk Road, Howard, Ohio, beginning at 10 a.m.  There is no time limit on this day.  IF you choose to hang out at the farm, go back for a nap, on a walk, but there WILL be a cookout around 5 p.m. that you are welcome to join.   AGAIN…..This day’s activities are optional.

We had a really productive, exciting day yesterday.   Anne met with us and we went over the final things for the reunion, checking off a lot on our list.  We had placed the order for 106 
t-shirts and we were able to pick them up yesterday.  All three of us were so happy with how they turned out.  Rose will have them all washed and ready for you.  We will begin handing them out at the Pizza Party Friday evening at.   Makes it seem like it really is going to happen! 

Just a reminder that the pool will be open if anyone would like to swim.  It is an actual water park now with tube slides, kiddie area, and an Olympic-sized pool  Here's their info:

Individual (Ages 6-59) ............... $5.00 
Children (Ages 1-5) ................... $3.00 
Senior Citizen (Age 60+) .......... $4.00 
Children (Under age of one) ..... FREE 

These are the rates after 5 p.m. with closing at 7:45 p.m.  (remember those staying at the Comfort Inn, you have a pool and hot tub there for your use as well)

We then took a ride to THE BARN so Anne could see it and we could get another feel for what we might need.  Anne was quite impressed with the look/feel of the place.  Much more than she had imagined!  It is going to be a wonderful place for all of us to gather for the day. Three weeks from today we will be all together.  Praying for beautiful weather.

We're less than 30 days from the Reunion!  Rose and I placed the t-shirt order today..GRAND TOTAL 105.  YAHOO!!!!!!

Next step....looking for a head count for the Friday evening pizza/pool party.  This event is planned for 5 p.m. to ??  at Hiawatha Water Park...all of you know it as the Community Pool.
We have the shelter there reserved for the evening.  We will have pizza and soft drinks available for all.  Just looking for a ball park figure on the number attending.

Switching to Sunday morning, brunch will be held at Rose and Jim's beginning at 10 a.m.  We also need idea of how many to plan for,  that is,  if you want something to eat .  :)

Both of these events are optional, but of course we're looking forward to seeing ALL of you on Saturday at THE BARN.  Considering the Saturday a.m. activities, i.e. golf, farmer's market, trail walk, etc.  feel free to arrive at your convenience anytime after 10 a.m.

Regarding the t-shirts, we will have them here in Mount Vernon. They will be washed and folded, ready for your wearing pleasure.  No one will have forgotten their shirt!!

Mary Margaret has said she would like to put together a photo poster or something to display photos on.  She has asked that you send them to her and she will be sure to keep them protected.  I suggested to her that anyone who has pictures and you may not want to part with them, maybe you could scan them and have a copy made and sent to MM.
If you need an e-mail address or a mailing address, we can hook you up.  So, start digging for those pics and get them off to MM.

Hello !!

Checking in with some updates and more info for everyone.  Rose and I got together today and went over a few things.  We checked with the Comfort Inn where we have a block of rooms reserved, 12 to be exact, with only 5 rooms left.  Anyone who wishes to stay there should call 740-392-6886 and ask for the Costello Reunion.  These rooms will only be held until June 5th at the group rate.  All that info is in the previous post  :)

Our early planning stages are that Friday night, which is optional, we will be meeting at the shelter at Hiawatha Water Park, the Community Pool to all of us, for a pizza/pool party. Planning on gathering around 5 p.m. and we have the shelter until 11 p.m. Anyone wishing to swim it's a great place for the little ones as well. Just informal place to gather.  If the weather doesn't permit, we will meet at the Comfort Inn poolside for our pizza and time together.

Saturday, we have THE BARN from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. so you are free to come at any time. Pictures will be at 3:30 with food being served at 4 p.m.

Saturday a.m. there is a golf scramble planned.  If you are interested and have not gotten in touch with Sam Costello yet, he's the man in charge! (samcostello7@gmail.com) Open to men and women.   Will be played at Chapel Hill, which just happens to be about 3 minutes from THE BARN where we will be having our reunion day.  

Saturday a.m. we will also have a "group" walk on the Kokosing Gap Trial.  This would be for walkers, runners, bikes and skates, and of course strollers!  We will be meeting around 9:30 to begin.  Also on Saturday morning on the Square is the Farmer's Market and lots of antique and interesting shops throughout downtown.  This is a very easy walk from the Comfort Inn.

Sunday morning 10 a.m.  Brunch will be at  Rose and Jim's for those who are available.  After brunch the day is open to whatever you choose.  There is fishing, paddle boating, lots of room to run and play at the farm.  Down the road is Honey Run which is a beautiful water falls and hiking area.  Or just kick back, relax and visit. 

May 15th is the final day to get your t-shirt info to us. We're ready to place our order!!

Reunion T-Shirt and hotel info

Hello to all!!

Here is a copy of our t-shirt for the reunion.  Each family will have their own color and the design will be done in white.  Your family color has been chosen and you can check to see what it is, if you don't know.   We will need to know the number of shirts each of you will need and the sizes. 

The shirts are Jer-Zee brand and are 50/50 blend.   Adult sizes are S, M, L, XL, 2XL  and larger if needed.  Youth sizes are S (2-4)  M (6-8)  L (10-12) and their XL is considered an Adult Small.  The cost will be $10 for adult and $8 for youth sizes.  

For those who have children who are smaller than a youth small, we are working on that. Since they will need to be on a onesie, we are looking into someone else being able to do those.

For those of you who will be staying at the Comfort Inn here in Mount Vernon, we have reserved a block of 10 rooms for Friday and Saturday nights.. The room is either a King bed or 2 Queen beds and the rate will be, including taxes, $273.94 for a total of 2 nights.  Children ages 18 and under stay for free.  They do have a continental breakfast available and a swimming pool.  Right behind the hotel is WINE-STEIN.....very good food and nice atmosphere.  What we need from you is this....to let us know you are needing a reservation and then you will have to contact the Comfort Inn to make your reservation and give them your info.  We need the number so we can quickly add more rooms if necessary.  So, if you could please respond with the hotel info by April 1st, it would help us make sure we have enough rooms available.  I can tell you 3 of the rooms are already spoken for.  Comfort Inn's phone number is 740-392-6886 for reservations and be sure to mention COSTELLO REUNION  to get the rate. 

So, we're off and running.  Only 4 months away!!!!
